Carlos Gets the Sneezes follows Carlos, who’s eager to bring a pet rat to school, but is derailed by a sudden bout of uncontrollable sneezing. Concerned classmates—led by Miss Fiona Frizzle—shrink the Magic School Bus and enter Carlos’s body to uncover the cause. Inside his bloodstream, they realize it’s not a virus causing the symptoms, but histamines triggered by allergens.

The students use science, teamwork, and creative tools like a “Regular Cellinator” to study white and T-cells, collect allergens, and safely exit Carlos’s body. In the end, they learn that Carlos is allergic to pollen carried by his pet rat Ratney, and he takes steps to manage his allergies while still caring for the class pet.

Through fast-paced adventure and kid-friendly language, the book teaches how the immune system responds to allergens versus viruses. It includes amusing dialogue, relatable classroom dynamics, and a scientific explanation labeled “Science vs. Story” at the end.
